Tricia started learning dancing at the age of 10. At age 13, she joined the school’s modern dance club headed by Mdm Liao (Singapore) & Ms Berlinda (Australia). Throughout her four years in this club, she picked up ballet, contemporary jazz, Spanish dance, tap dance and line dancing. Her first exposure to dance competitions was Singapore Youth Festival Year 2004.
Thereafter, Tricia joined Hip-hop IG (interest group) in Republic Polytechnic for 3 years. She was trained under Larry for basic and intermediate Bboying. Together with the pioneer batch of Hip-hop IG members, they formed a crew better known as StyleMethodz. They joined numerous competitions and won accolades for their unique incorporation of Bboying routine with Hip-hop choreography.
In year 2006, Tricia was recruited into a newly formed girls crew known as E.V.E and was taught by Ewan from Fantastic 4, the top 3 dance crew in Singapore’s DanceFloor 2007.
In year 2007, Tricia was recruited into Freekzy Nuts together with 2 other members from National University of Singapore dance group, White Riding Hoods, to compete in RE:MIX 07’; a high profile dance competition held in Youth Park Cineleisure. A young girl joined Chinese Dance as a CCA in her primary school days and Dance & Movement in her secondary school. Since young, Joann had the chance to perform in front of people from all walks of life. She continued what she was doing best, to dance.
After graduation from secondary school, she felt that this love shouldn’t stop right there. She needed to try out something new.
Intrigued by the rich history behind the Hip Hop culture, Joann started her journey in the scene in early 2007 where she joined her school’s HipHop Interest Group also known as Style Groovaz. She had matured well as a dancer under the care of Bboy Larry, FUYO.
From there, she had the opportunity to learn, to share and to inspire.
